If you're in love with pirates, or for that matter just Johnny Depp, this could be the event you've been waiting for ;) The 35th annual Pirates Week celebration is currently underway in the Cayman Islands.Offering something for everyone with a bevy of parades, parties and fireworks, Pirates Week 2012 takes place this November 8 to 18, 2012. Spanning the three Cayman Islands (Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac & Little Cayman), attendees during Pirates Week can don their best pirate costumes while enjoying the mock pirate 'invasion' in George Town.
Family activities to enjoy include a children's fun fair day, turtle release, cardboard boat race, circuit race and a disco just for teens. Athletes can participate in a 5 or 10K run while scuba divers can enjoy a fund-raising underwater treasure hunt. There's also a food fair showcasing authentic island cuisine - be sure to try anything jerk, Cayman-style fish, breadfruit, coconut and turtle soup (yikes!).
The Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa is offering a Pirates Week package from only $119 per night while Budget Cayman car rentals is offering 25% off their standard rates. You can still pick up a four-night hotel package including airfare with Cayman Airways for as little as $788 per person. For more information, visit Pirates Week Festival.
